Healing from Burnout with Core Energy Coaching

Hello, everyone! Today, I want to introduce you to a powerful approach that can help you not only survive burnout but thrive beyond it: Core Energy Coaching. If you've ever felt trapped in the relentless cycle of stress and exhaustion, this might just be the game-changer you need.

What is Core Energy Coaching?

Core Energy Coaching is a transformative coaching method that focuses on identifying and shifting the underlying energy driving your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Developed by Bruce D. Schneider, founder of iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching), this approach goes beyond traditional coaching techniques by addressing the root causes of challenges and unlocking your true potential.

At its core (pun intended), Core Energy Coaching is about raising your awareness and helping you tap into your intrinsic energy. It's about understanding how your energy influences your experiences and learning to harness it in a way that empowers you, rather than drains you.

The Seven Levels of Energy

Core Energy Coaching is built around the concept of seven levels of energy, which range from catabolic (destructive) to anabolic (constructive). Here’s a quick overview:

1. **Level 1 - Victim**: Feelings of apathy, lethargy, and powerlessness. This is the "everything happens to me" mindset.

2. **Level 2 - Conflict**: Anger, frustration, and resistance. The "I have to win" mentality.

3. **Level 3 - Responsibility**: Rationalization, cooperation, and coping. The "I win, and if you win, that's okay" attitude.

4. **Level 4 - Concern**: Compassion, service, and care. The "you win" mindset.

5. **Level 5 - Reconciliation**: Acceptance, opportunity, and peace. The "we both win" mentality.

6. **Level 6 - Synthesis**: Joy, intuition, and creativity. The "we always win" perspective.

7. **Level 7 - Absolute Passion**: Complete synergy, self-transcendence, and non-judgment. The "winning and losing are illusions" state.

By understanding and shifting through these levels, you can transform how you experience and respond to life's challenges, including burnout.

A Practical Example: My Story

During my coach training, I took the Energy Leadership Index (ELI) Assessment, a powerful tool that revealed my energy levels under stress and when regulated. I discovered that under stress, I primarily exhibited Level 1: Victim energy. This energy caused me to isolate myself and feel helpless, focusing only on problems without seeing solutions.

It's important to understand that all energy levels serve specific purposes. Level 1 energy appears when we seek to protect ourselves. I was so worn down that shutting down was my body's way of keeping me safe.

Abraham Maslow highlights two opposing forces in the human condition: a drive for growth and a drive for safety. Operating from a place of safety kept me from making the changes I desperately wanted.

Recognizing Level 1 energy in myself allowed me to consciously choose whether to stay in it or move to a higher energy level. By focusing on higher energy, I lost 70 pounds in less than a year, reducing hip pain, allergy attacks, and acid reflux. I also set new work boundaries and prioritized self-care, improving my overall well-being.

How to Work with the Levels of Energy

If you or someone you know could benefit from understanding your energetic makeup, consider scheduling an Energy Leadership Index Assessment. After taking the assessment, I will review your results and help create an action plan for consciously choosing how you show up in life. While we can't control all circumstances, we can control how they affect us. To schedule an ELI Assessment, contact me via email or through my website.

Core Energy Coaching aims to create lasting change, transforming your approach to life and work. By operating from higher energy levels, you can sustain a healthier, more balanced lifestyle and avoid burnout. Feel free to share this information with anyone who might benefit.

Stay energized, my friends!
